P – Making expected growth/progress
B – Beginning to progress

Student Records
Students’ progress will be tracked using the following items:
• Conferences
• Report cards will be sent home every 9 weeks.
All biological parents and/or guardian have the right to see the student records. Please
contact the teacher to make an appointment. Student records are kept in language
folders, math folders, writing portfolios, and permanent records.
Attendance and Tardy Policies
Please have your child at school on time. Instruction begins promptly at 7:45am.
When a student is absent, a note is required from the parent or a doctor for the absence
to be excused.
When a student reports late to school, a parent must sign them in and the student must
receive a note from the office to give to their teacher.
Rules for Student Behavior
Please refer to the Student Handbook. Students are expected to follow school wide
rules as well as classroom rules, which are discussed during the first week of school.
Classroom Management
Class Mission Statement: (student created)
Expectations for Students
• Actively participate in class
• Listen attentively
• Have a POSITIVE attitude
• Participate in group and individual activities
• Work eagerly on assignments
• Ask for help when needed (after attempting to do it)
• Play nicely at recess and abide by the rules
• Be kind to one another
• Always do your best
Homework Policy
The purpose of homework is to provide additional practice. Homework should not take
more than 20 minutes. Please check your child’s green folder every afternoon for information.
Communication with Parents
Weekly folders, parent notes, phone calls, and conferences are frequent means of
communication also. EMAIL is the quickest and easiest way to communicate with me.
A conference is scheduled with each parent at the end of the first nine weeks. Another
conference will be held later in the year for those students on Academic Plans. If a
conference is needed, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule one.
Long Range Planning and Learning Goals
The quarterly goals are broken down into topics to be covered monthly. This enables
the teacher to do more accurate planning each week. The language, reading, and
writing skills are taught throughout the year. Science, Social Studies, and Health are
taught a subject at a time instead of two subjects consecutively. Math skills are also
listed to show when they will be assessed although there is continued review during the
year.
