My name is Kathy Dawson, and I am excited to be teaching your child this year in 4th grade. This will be the beginning of my 24th year teaching elementary school. I taught in Illinois for 16 years before our family moved to Texas. In Texas, I taught for a year and a half, and then our family moved here. I have been in Greenville County for 5 1/2 years, having taught 4th grade virtually, 5th grade, and serving as a Math Interventionist for the past two years. I am so excited to join the 4th grade team at Rudolph Gordon for the second year. I know that together in class, we will do great things!
Growing up outside of Chicago, I went to Illinois State University, and completed three degrees while I was there. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Teaching in the same town as a major university had many advantages. I was able to go back to school twice while teaching, and earn two advanced degrees. They are both in the educational field; one is a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and the other one is a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology and Design in Education. I was able to accomplish this before our family grew and we had our children.
My husband and I love spending time with our two daughters and our dog. We enjoy spending time visiting different lakes in the area, and love exploring all the beauty that is around us. I love to travel, bake, read, and make crafts with my Cricut.
I look forward to an exciting year getting to know your child. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns throughout the year. I know it will be a great year!
