About Me

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Brittany Portwood, and I’m thrilled to be your child’s third grade teacher this year! This is my twelfth year as a public school educator and my fifth year here at Oakview.

I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida in 2011. After graduating, my husband and I moved to China, where we taught English to students of all ages. Upon returning to the U.S., I spent four years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in Orlando, Florida. Since relocating to South Carolina in 2017, I’ve had the opportunity to teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

In 2023, I completed my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, cooking, and going on family hikes with my husband and our three-year-old daughter.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together!
