ABOUT ME

Mrs. Wendy J Miller

Biography

I have been teaching my WHOLE life!!  No – really!!  When I was in 1st grade, the only time I got in trouble in school was when I kept trying to “teach” my reading group when it was not my turn!  I knew from the time I was in 2nd grade that  I wanted to be a teacher and that is all I have done since.

I am married and we have 5 grown children – 3 of which are married and I have been blessed with 4 beautiful granddaughters.  This is my 10th year teaching here at Alexander Elementary School.  I still think teaching is the BEST job in the world!

I taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 6th grade before my oldest daughter was born.  Then, after having 5 children in 7 years, we decided to homeschool and I spent the next 15 years homeschooling and guiding my children from K5 through the 12th grade.  All of them graduated High School and proceeded to college.  After my youngest son finished school, I came to Alexander Elementary to continue teaching.

My education

I attended Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN for four years and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a teaching Certificate in Special Education.  After returning to teach at Alexander, I attended North Greenville University and earned my master’s Degree in Curriculum and Evaluation.
