About Me

Hi there! My name is Canon Mikes, and I am so excited to welcome you to our third grade classroom! I previously taught ESOL for three years and am excited to begin my second year teaching third grade at Lake Forest Elementary. 

I grew up in Greenville, SC, and graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. This December, I'll complete my master's degree in Applied Learning and Instruction with a TESOL concentration from USC Upstate.

I love creating a classroom where students feel welcomed, supported, and excited to learn each day. Building strong relationships with my students and watching them grow throughout the year is one of my favorite parts of teaching.

Outside of school, I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have an adorable Border Collie mix named Wylie. In my free time, I enjoy spending time at the lake, reading, exploring new places, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
