All students should be studying and reviewing for at least 15 minutes a night.
7 Days Before a Test
The first item on the book mark that students should begin with is to go back through their slides in Google Classroom and review any videos we have watched in class ~OR~ seek their own videos on YouTube or Kahn Academy to assist in the topics we have discussed.
6 Days Before a Test
Students should read over our notes from class. We usually have a few more to work on, but at least start reviewing what is in the Science Notebook! It is also a good idea to make notes about what information is still confusing to ask teachers prior to the test.
5 Days Before a Test
Students should FOCUS ON VOCABULARY. Every unit for science includes a set of vocabulary flash cards that is posted in Google Classroom. The cards allow for quizzes and activities to help them remember key terms. Have your student utilize them frequently, even if for small amounts of time.
4 Days Before a Test
This would be a great time to review topics and take a few minutes to reflect on what questions students still have. Please help your student mark any questions in their notebooks or on a sheet of paper so they can ask their teacher tomorrow in class.
3 Days Before a Test
If you have not already, today is the day to FINISH YOUR STUDY GUIDE. Remember: your teachers make the test AND the study guide!! Use it as a tool to study not just as another worksheet to complete. Go through first and answer all the questions you are confident of the answer. Place a circle ⭕ around those you may be able to answer with a little reminder and a star ⭐ beside the ones you do not recall at all - those are the ones you really need to study!!
2 Days Before a Test
Tonight would be a good time to utilize any review games and/or vocabulary Flippity Flash Cards. You have been studying a little each night and the questions should be easy to answer. Remember: none of the questions on the study guide or the review games are actual test questions. You will need to apply what you learn to other scenarios so it is IMPORTANT TO KNOW ALL THE CONCEPTS AND HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER.
The Night Before a Test
You have done an amazing job preparing for the test! Take a few minutes to "hit the highlights" - maybe some of the things you circled ⭕ and starred ⭐ on your Study Guide. You've got this!! Get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast so your brain is at its optimum power! Let's go do our best on the test tomorrow!!!
