Hi! My name is Bonnie Elrod. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2009 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. I received my Masters Degree in Special Education: Learning Disabilities from Furman University. This is my fourteenth year teaching and my fifth year in Special Education! I am so excited to continue my teaching career with Sara Collins Elementary.
I grew up in the Greenville area. I have a wonderful husband named Todd and 2 wonderful kiddos, Claire and Henry. I also have three cats, a bunny, and a lizard! I love to cook and read all kinds of books in my spare time. I also love to attend USC football games! Go Gamecocks!
My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher and a tutor I have worked with many children. I understand that every child learns differently and it is my job to help each child in their own way so that they can learn as much as possible and become successful readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and citizens!
In my classroom each child is looked at as an individual who is special in their very own way. Through our individuality we are able to create a wonderfully diverse classroom where we can learn from each others’ differences and learn about our similarities.
My main goal in our classroom is to make sure that every child feels comfortable so that they may reach their full potential as learners and as kids. Learning must be fun at this age and I hope that every day when your child comes home that you don’t have to ask what we did at school. I hope that your child is excited and can’t wait to tell you what we did at school!
I can’t wait to meet all of my new students. We are going to have a wonderful year where fun and learning collide!
