About

Hello! My name is Sue Bennett and this is the 18th year that I have had the privilege to be a part of the Slater Marietta family. I have been teaching in South Carolina for 43 years. I have taught several different grades and was even a school librarian for 12 years. Before teaching in Greenville County, I taught in Saluda County, Spartanburg County, and Barnwell County. I received a BS degree and a Masters degree from Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina. I also have 30 hours above my Masters. I am certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Reading. I am considered highly qualified by the state of South Carolina. In 2005, I received National Board Certification in Literacy.

I was born at Donaldson Air Force Base right here in Greenville. I am married and have two sons, five grandsons, and 1 granddaughter. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my grandchildren. When I am not teaching school or spending time with my grandchildren, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, crocheting, and making jelly.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Slater-Marietta family. Teaching children to read is one of the best things about teaching and I feel privileged to be able to do something that I love.
