Hello, and welcome! My name is Brittany Barksdale, and I am so excited to have you here. This is my third year teaching at Ellen Woodside Elementary, and I truly love being part of this wonderful school community.
I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in Communications and a minor in Journalism, but along the way, I discovered my true passion—Special Education. I am currently pursuing my teaching certification through the Greenville Alternative Teacher Education (GATE) program, and I feel so grateful to be growing in a career that brings me so much joy and purpose.
I’m originally from Gray Court, South Carolina, and I like to think of myself as a true country girl at heart. I love spending time outdoors, whether it’s taking walks in nature or just enjoying the fresh air. I’m also the proud mom of my daughter, Blaze, who is my whole world, and our sweet fur baby, Preston, a Lab/Saint Bernard mix who lives up to his nickname as our “gentle giant.” In my free time, I enjoy creating—whether it’s crafts, projects, or ideas (even if I don’t always finish them!).
Most of all, I love connecting with my students, watching them grow, and celebrating their successes both big and small. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together!
