About Me

Welcome!  I am excited to be teaching at Riverside High School this year.  This will be my ninth full-year teaching assignment.  I began my teaching career midyear in 2016.

I am originally from Atlanta, GA, but while growing up, I spent time in South Carolina and North Carolina. I attended Furman University, where I studied biology. Although Furman did not offer minors, I have enough chemistry credits to have a minor in chemistry. I received my Master's in Secondary Education from National University, which is based in California.

While at Furman, I interned at the Greenville County Police Department in their Forensic Drug Lab.  After graduating from Furman, I worked for Milliken in Spartanburg, where I analyzed competitors' samples, problem-solved issues from their plants, and assisted in research on various polymers.  A few years later, I moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and worked for Fifth Third Bank as a Commercial Auditor.

I met my husband in Kentucky, although he is a Mauldin Maverick and a Clemson Tiger. After we married, we moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  We spent two years in Malaysia, working with college students in a ministerial capacity.  Our next big move took us to Tok, Alaska, where we worked with Athabascan Indians in another ministerial role. My family and I lived in Overton, Nevada, for the next eleven years.  We moved to the Greer area five years ago

I have two daughters. One is married and lives in Columbus, GA, while my younger daughter is a senior at Clemson.

My family and I were very involved in agriculture and farming in Nevada. We raised Nigerian Dwarf goats, many Bantam chickens, and parakeets.  My older daughter spent time training horses and riding in Gymkhanas.  Unfortunately, we left those animals in Nevada, but the experiences will remain with us forever.

I own a small soap, lotion, and lip balm company and sell my products at local Farmers Markets. My husband is a chemist who studied textile chemistry at Clemson.

I hope to bring many real-world examples into my science classroom to make learning not only fun but also relevant and purposeful.

I am looking forward to a great year!
