DISTRICT AI POLICY
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a supplemental educational tool that can be beneficial when used
correctly and within the framework contained in the corresponding board policy. Comprehensive
professional development and training focusing on effective integration and ethical concerns are
required for all teachers, staff, and students prior to initial use and periodically as appropriate for
effective implementation.
Access Restrictions:
● K4–Grade 5: Student use of platforms that allow direct interaction with generative AI tools
is prohibited.
● Grades 6–12: Students may only use AI tools that have been explicitly vetted and
approved by the District. Teachers are prohibited from assigning any AI platform not
included on the District approved list.
The use of District-approved AI tools is at the teacher's discretion based on specific learning goals
and content standards. Unauthorized student AI use on assignments is considered a violation of
the Behavior Code and will be treated as plagiarism under Board Policy JCDA
Students will be informed at the beginning of each class as to the ability to utilize AI for that course,
including the degree that AI can be used for specific assignments. The permitted use of AI for
each course will be provided to students and parents/guardians in the course syllabus.
