About Me
Welcome to Eastside High School
Mr. Gates has been exciting the interests of students in science for more than 27 years. I live in Taylors, South Carolina and enjoying visiting family and friends in the Santee-Elloree communities of the Low Country.
I was nominated the 2014-15 Eastside High School Teacher of the Year and the 2015-16 High School Science Teacher of the Year. I was the 2016-17 Distinguished Science Teacher of the Year. I currently teach physics and chemistry for the 2018-19 school year. I am a math Upward Bound Instructor at Greenville Technical College. I work with our at-risk students in preparing them for success in high school.
My hobbies include but not limited to traveling, playing pool, and reading. I am eager to begin the school year. Again, I wish you success and hope that you will enjoy your experiences in science this year.
