BRHS Poets Society's Inaugural Literary Magazine of Student Compositions! 2022-23
We meet on a Thursday at 4pm once a month (subject to change so check with Mr. Frisk) in my classroom (B103) where student body members of the society get together to write, share, discuss, and learn about poetry and poetic forms through fun activities designed to spark creativity and authorship. We aren't limited to just discussing and writing poetry though! ALL creative writers are welcome. So if you or your student is a short story writer, a novelist, or even a songwriter you are more than welcome and encouraged to join our club! Every year we work towards the publication of a student designed literary magazine that showcases student work. Last year we published the first literary magazine of student work at BRHS in nearly two decades. We also enter several national and state poetry contests such as The Skylark Poetry Contest sponsored by The Poetry Society of South Carolina and others. These contests give students an excellent opportunity to win acclaim and cash prizes. Everything that our poets do in conjunction with the club also look great on college and job applications post high school! We are always looking to expand our activiites and this year we hope to take our activities to the next level with more off site poetry readings, school contests and a Fall digital publication to supplement our hard copy spring magazine publication.
