Hello! My name is Matt Reeve and I am pumped to teach third grade at Lake Forest this year! This is my second year as a Lake Forest Leopard and I'm truly believe that this school will help your student believe in themselves and achieve their highest potential!
My goal is to have a classroom where all students feel supported, challenged, and safe to learn and grow. We emphasize a classroom community where all students are equal in opportunity and all learn the importance of being kind.
I graduated from Furman University with a degree in sociology and have lived in Greenville for almost 10 years since then. My partner, Anna, and I have a cocker spaniel, Theo, and two cats, Benny and Louis. Our backyard is home to 5 chickens, Mary, Tia, Tamara, Michelle, and Janet, and ~20,000 bees. We are huge fans of gardening, backyard barbecues, downtown strolls, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. If we aren't on the Swamp Rabbit Trail on the weekends, you can find us traveling around the Southeast making memories.
But that's enough about me - I can't wait to get to know you all better this year! Don't hesitate to reach out for anything!
Â
Theodore (age 5)
Benny (age 12)
Louis (age 4)
My Favorites:
Drink: Sparkling Water (specifically Topo Chico if I'm treating myself)
Candy: PayDay or Almond Joy
Snacks: PB&Js, Doritos, and chocolate milk (to teach the students, I must act like them)
Activities: running, kayaking, watching basketball, Drive games, long dinners, going to the symphony
Restaurants: Sum Bar, Windy City Burgers, Aryana (but don't count out Taco Bell)
Thing about teaching Third Grade: the variety of student aspirations and their gusto for pursuing them (I've had future ballerinas, video game developers, writers, astronauts, NFL players, moms and dads, and even a teacher! - can't wait to see them all achieve their dreams!)
