What is a Section 504 Plan?
A Section 504 Plan is a plan put in place for students who may need a little extra assistance in the classroom. Each plan is individualized for each students' needs. It is not an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). If a student is in need of modification of curriculum, or specialized instruction, then a different approach is taken.
Who can qualify for one?
A student who has a diagnosed disorder that may disrupt participation within a normal educational and classroom setting.
Can a Section 504 Plan end?
Of course! If a student or parent/legal guardian feels the student no longer needs the accommodations, then they can be terminated at any time. A team decision may also be made to terminate the Section 504 plan if there is evidence the student no longer benefits from it as well.
