Broadcast Journalism will provide students with the skills and knowledge to be informed consumers of media in a technological society. Our main responsibility is to produce the daily announcements and teach all aspects related. The course provides the opportunity for students to learn basic journalistic and technological skills to be used in career choices and radio & television productions. Students will research, gather, and analyze information to create audio & video productions for broadcast to a variety of audiences.
Video Game Design provides students with the opportunity to design, program, and create fully functional video games. The course will introduce basic programming and design skills that are essential to developing a video game. Topics covered are math, physics, level design, and computer programming. This course will instruct students on how to use problem solving in real world situations. Students will also learn the basics of programming structure and the software development life cycle. Offered at Career Center East Only.
Computer Apps is an introductory course designed to teach 6th grade students how to productively use computer hardware, software and the internet. Students learn fundamental concepts and key application skills for using Microsoft Windows, Google Chrome, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Docs and Microsoft Publisher as well as related Technology issues. Students will also learn about proper Internet Etiquette and possible ways to handle concerning situations that arise when on the internet. Class activities focus on real-world applications helping students gain technology skills necessary for coursework at Hughes Academy.
