About Mr. Schooley
Originally from southeast Michigan, Mr. Schooley started his musical career as a tuba player. Mr. Schooley has been a performing member of the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Toledo, OH, Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps from Syracuse, NY, and the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps "The Commandant's Own" in Washington, D.C. After the Marines Mr. Schooley attended the University of North Texas in Denton, TX where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education in (2011). More recently Mr. Schooley received his Masters Degree in Music Education at Anderson University (2024).
Mr. Schooley has enjoyed a long history of teaching in all forms of marching band at every level through-out the country. Highlights of his educational journey through Drum Corps International include Blue Stars, Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, and Crossmen. Before coming to Woodmont Mr. Schooley taught at several schools in Texas from 6th grade to post-Graduation in the DFW metroplex. Mr. Schooley was the campus Teacher of the Year in 2016 at Rosemont Middle School, 2018 at South Hills High School, and the 2019- Bayard H. Friedman Chair for Teaching Excellence in Performing Arts.
This is Mr. Schooley's fifth year with the Woodmont High School Bands.
When not working with students Mr. Schooley enjoys spending his time with his wife Cherie and three dogs, and woodworking projects in his garage.
