As an educator and coach, I am very passionate about my calling to influence my students’ lives. I call it the “light bulb” experiences ... the ones where after days, weeks, or even months of working, learning, and even failing at something, the light finally comes on. For me, there is clarity, a realization, an understanding of something that seemed so foreign moments ago. It does not matter what it is, whether it is riding a bike for the first time, figuring out how to develop a research paper, or just expressing how you feel—we all live for the “ahha” moments when our light bulb bursts with energy from within. My mission in life is to create an atmosphere for student-athletes from all lifestyles that constantly produce “light bulb” experiences. My diligence lies in the fact that I’m able to promote a positive learning environment, effective conflict resolution skills, shape solution oriented mentalities, and challenged uncapped minds to go deeper, be better, work harder, and live effectively both in the classroom and other avenues of life.
