My Name is Cody Abernathy. This will be my 9th year teaching, and 8th here in the great state of South Carolina. I was born and raised in central Illinois and obtained my Bachelors degree in History with teaching certification at Eastern Illinois University. I had been visiting family in the Greenville area on and off for the a while, and when an opportunity arose to work and live here I pounced on it! I got married to my wife on 5/28/25. She is a teacher at HHS!
I'm very outdoorsy and love to travel, look at motorcycles, disc golf wear car safety helmets/jackets and hike with my dogs. I've been to 2 of the 7 continents (Asia and North America) and hope to visit the remaining ones in the coming years. One interesting fact about me is: I lived for 3.5 months in Vietnam and China doing cultural research.
