About Señora Pedrick

My name is Mary Pedrick. I am originally from Memphis, TN, but moved to Greenville in 2006. I graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in Spanish and later received a Masters in Education from Anderson University. My teaching career began in 2007 at J.L. Mann Academy, where for seven years I taught Spanish 1, 2, and 3. In 2014 I switched gears to middle school and taught at Beck Academy for four years. This will be my 15th year teaching and fourth year as a Mauldin Maverick.

My experience with Spanish language and cultures includes the following... Like most people, I took Spanish in high school, and then continued to study it in college. The summer between my junior and senior years in college, I participated in an exchange program for a month in Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica, I attended courses at the local college, resided with a local family, and explored the country coast to coast. Upon graduation, I accepted a job offer to work for a staffing agency in Memphis. The position required speaking, reading, writing, and listening to Spanish on a daily basis to conduct interviews, candidate searches, job orientations, and translation for our clients and employees. When I relocated to Greenville, I made a career change to become a teacher. Within the past 12 years, I have maintained my Spanish language skills by traveling to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Puerto Rico.

On a personal note, I live in Mauldin with my husband and two step-children, Adelyn, 19 and Dayton, 16. We have one dog, Lady, who is a mixed breed rescue from the Humane Society. We spend our evenings and weekends together and with friends and family, usually doing some kind of outdoors activity like hiking, kayaking, or skiing (I'm still learning the skiing thing haha).
