About Me

Hi, my name is Mike Parris. I will be the new Gateway to Technology Automation & Robotics and Design & Modeling Instructor at RGS. This will be my 40th year in education. I have taught Industrial Technology at Fairforest Middle School, Engineering Graphics / Computer Aided Drafting and Design at R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center in Spartanburg, and Basic and Advanced Computer Aided Drafting and Design at Converse College. Before going into administration I coached football and weightlifting for thirteen years. For twenty two years I served as Assistant Director at R. D. Anderson Applied Technology Center in Spartanburg, and Director at Enoree and Bonds Career Center in Greenville County Schools. Three years ago when I covered classes during Covid, I discovered how much I miss working directly with students and my love of teaching. I am very excited to return to teaching at RGS and preparing our students for the future. I received my BS degree from Clemson University with a degree in Industrial Education. I received my Masters degree from The University of South Carolina in Educational Administration. I have been married to my wife Sherry for 40 years. We have one son, a daughter in law, and our rescue dog Callie. I enjoy all sports, especially Clemson Tigers football and fishing.
