Welcome to my class!

My name is Monique Goddeyne.

I am honored to have the opportunity to share my love of English Language Arts with you. My favorite things in life revolve around stories: reading, writing, film, music, podcasts, camping, traveling, dancing, and conversations.

The 2026-2027 school year is my second year teaching 8th grade ELA. I am currently enrolled in GCSD's GATE program.

I have a Bachelor's degree in

Journalism & Mass Communications.

I graduated from Arizona State University. My minor was Sociology. While I miss being able to attend ASU sporting events, I loved being able to watch the Sun Devils in-person at the 2025 Peach Bowl.

I love to travel!

I am originally from Miami, Florida, but grew up in Arizona. My early years growing up in vastly different places developed a deep love of exploring.

My family is my world.

My husband, Shawn, and our two kids, Henry and Charlotte, bring me the most joy. Their laughter is truly the best sound in the universe, even when they snort-laugh.

Animal: Crows and Ravens
Movie: Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Book: I can't choose! Mysteries, historical fiction, gothic suspense, and memoirs all top the list
Board Game: Trivial Pursuit
Flower: Orchids and anemones
Place to Visit: Anywhere stories are told and adventure to be found, but throw in a museum and a shoreline, and I may never leave!

Being in nature is a balm to my soul.

Whether hiking through Yosemite's grove of giant sequoias, stoking a campfire in Oconee State Park, or listening to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur, I will always find peace and perspective being outdoors.
