To avoid truancy alerts & referrals, please submit an excuse for every absence within 3 days of returning to school. ( Please see sample note on the left.)
All excuses are time stamped upon arrival to front office, notes received after third allowed day will be filed but not coded.

All medical notes can be submitted electronically but the original must still be sent in with your student.
All absences merge with our PowerSchool system every night, if you ever have any questions in regards to a specific code or unexcused absence, please send an email to cluna@greenville.k12.sc.us
Absences:
For students in grades K -12, principals shall promptly approve or disapprove any student's absences in excess of ten (10) days, whether those absences are lawful, unlawful, or a combination of the two. Absences in excess of ten (10) days will not be considered excused with a parent/guardian note unless accompanied by official medical documentation or otherwise approved by the principal as a lawful absence.
Truancy:
The state requires students to only attend 170 of the 180-day school year, parents and students should be aware that SC Code of Regulations - Chapter 43-274 stipulates that a child ages 6 to 17 years of age is considered truant when the child has three consecutive unlawful absences or a total of five unlawful absences.
