WIDA - The WIDA assessment is used for initial screening of the English language, identification of the student’s level of English language proficiency, and placement for services within the ESOL Program.
ACCESS - All students identified as English Language Learners (ELL) in grades K-12 who attend Greenville County Schools grades K-12 are given the ACCESS 2.0. This English-language proficiency assessment is administered during the months of February and March. The ACCESS assessment is a standardized English language proficiency test that is used to determine English proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in compliance with requirements.
In order to exit the ESOL program, students must receive a composite score of at least 4.4 on the ACCESS for ELLs assessment. Students will be monitored for four years after exiting the program to ensure they are successful in their classes with no need for language assistance.
ML students participate in all state-wide testing.
All ML students are eligible for accommodations on testing based on their individual needs. Accommodations are based on the recommendations of the classroom and MLP teachers and are used regularly throughout the year.
