This is my 7th year at Northwest Middle School and 33rd year of teaching. I love my Northwest school family and students. I am excited to be a part of such a great team of teachers and administrators!
I graduated in 1994 with an Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (K-8th grade) from BJU. When my nephew was diagnosed with autism, I decided to go back to school for my Master's in Special Education. I completed my Master's in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities in 2012 at Furman University. Upon graduation, I was honored to be asked to join the International Honor Society in Education. In 2021, I added Special Education with an emphasis in Multi-Categorical Disabilities to my certifications. This year, I am honored to add Teacher of the Year for Northwest Middle School. It is indeed and an honor to represent our school and to be choosen by my peers and colleagues for this honor.
I taught at Hampton Park Christian School for 25 years. During that time I taught 2nd grade, K-4, library, and computer classes.
I also taught English to Chinese students in China virtually through VIPKIDS for 2 years.
One more cool fact! I just celebrated my 4th anniversary of the day I became a kidney donor for a friend. The transplant was a success, and she is enjoying good health again. It was a blessing to be able to help her in this way.
I love the mountains and traveling with my sister. We own a home together in Taylors and take care of our mom, who lives with us and is not in good health. My favorite animal is an Emperor Penguin! This summer, I was able to pet a baby King Penguin!
I look forward to working with your child this year at Northwest and helping him/her succeed!
