This is my 6th year at Northwest Middle School and 32nd year of teaching. I love my Northwest school family and students. I am excited to be a part of such a great team of teachers and administrators!
I graduated in 1994 with an Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (K-8th grade) from BJU. When my nephew was diagnosed with autism, I decided to go back to school for my Master's in Special Education. I completed my Master's in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities in 2012 at Furman University. Upon graduation, I was honored to be asked to join the International Honor Society in Education. In 2021, I added Special Education with an emphasis in Multi-Categorical Disabilities to my certifications.
I taught at Hampton Park Christian School for 25 years. During that time I taught 2nd grade, K-4, library, and computer classes. I also taught English to Chinese students in China virtually through VIPKIDS for 2 years.
One more cool fact! I just celebrated my 3rd anniversary of the day I became a kidney donor for a friend. The transplant was a success, and she is enjoying good health again. It was a blessing to be able to help her in this way.
I love the mountains and traveling with my sister. We own a home together in Taylors and take care of our mom, who lives with us and is not in good health. My favorite animal is an Emperor Penguin! This summer, I was able to pet a baby King Penguin!
I look forward to working with your child this year at Northwest and helping him/her succeed!
