Welcome & About Mrs. Price

Greetings Students (& Parents),

My name is Melissa Price, and I'm overjoyed to share that I'll be your 6th grade English/Language Arts teacher this 2021-2022 school year! My overarching goal for the year is that you grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally, as well. I most certainly recognize there is more to school then subjects like English and Math. Therefore, it is also my aim to be a source of support as you work through the huge transition from Elementary to Middle School, as well as the many developmental challenges you will face. I look forward to getting to know each of you, and the strengths you have that will prove invaluable in creating a classroom community where everyone CAN and WILL succeed. :)

A little about me...

...I'm a graduate of the University of South Carolina and moving into my seventh year as an educator: one, at Hughes Academy of Technology, five, at Woodmont Middle School, and last year virtually. I grew up in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Alaska, and am one of three children- the oldest- with a younger brother and sister. I have three children, Sam (17), Madalyn, (15), and Leah (13), for whom my heart beats. I am Bilingual: fluent in English (of course!) and ASL (husband is Deaf). I'm a runner (former Woodmont High School Girls Cross Country Coach), organizing junkie, Animal Rights Activist, burgeoning baker, and aspiring writer.

...I enjoy road trips, camping, reading, the mountains AND the beach, movie night, travelling, football (GO Gamecocks & Patriots!), and board and card games.

I dislike DIScouragement, sauerkraut, and entitlement mentality.

But I 'heart' my family, friends, DIY projects, linguistics, Batman, strong work ethic, debate, coffee, ENcouragement, birds, learning and research, George Washington, books, soup and bread, dogs, 100% effort, our military, and teaching.

I'm excited, beyond measure, at the opportunity to be a part of your educational journey and look forward to a supercalifragilistic year!
