Hello! My name is Jordan Brantley and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I'm entering my 9th school year here at Tanglewood Middle School. My education background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina as well as a Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University.Â
Throughout my career, I have gained experience working with students on a variety of concerns they face such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief/loss, trauma, and more. My goal is to approach everyone with a compassionate and non-judgmental attitude as I believe everyone is capable of personal growth and great things in life.
Middle school is naturally a time with lots of change in life and with these changes different challenges can come up. I believe every student has strengths and I aim to help them lean into those strengths to build resilience towards these challenges. At the heart of effective therapy is a strong relationship, so I always try to establish strong relationships with my students and their families to ensure they feel as supported and understood as possible.
To help students effectively, I'm trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with my students. I'm always happy to share more about these therapy models, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. There are a variety of services I am able to provide here at the school such as Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, and Group Therapy services.
Mental health can be a big source of stress and concern for both students and their families. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health and I am committed to helping our Tanglewood Centurions as they navigate their lives and whatever challenges they may encounter.
