My name is Meghan Elvington, and I am so excited to work with RHS students this year. This will be my first year at Riverside, but my seventh in education. I will be teaching English 3 CP/Adv.
I'm originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania (home of Little League baseball if you're familiar). I'm a graduate of Penn State University, where I studied English education.
I grew up as a military brat thanks to my dad being active in the United States Navy. I've been fortunate to have lived in a wide range of areas over the years because of it. Some of the places I've lived include: Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Maryland, southern Spain, and Virginia. Although I didn't appreciate moving so frequently when I was in school, I am grateful for the friendships and perspective its given me now.
I have a pretty amazing family. We are spread out along the east coast which makes family gatherings pretty challenging. My husband works in the supply chain industry and is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. My dad is still active in the Navy and currently stationed in Rhode Island with my mom. My mom has been in education and nursing for 32 years and is one of the reasons I became an educator. My two older brothers are forever protective and some of my favorite people. I have two dogs, Remley and Quinn, who are the bee's knees.
I'm an avid reader (not too original for an English teacher I know), plant enthusiast, bluegrass/folk music lover, hiker, and video game fanatic. I'm a devoted Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles fan which makes me a handful during football season. I recently picked up knitting again, so we'll see if it sticks.
Thank you for taking the time to learn some things about me. I'm sure that this year will be a great one!
