Susan Meadows is in her 35th year as a Physical Education Teacher at Eastside High School. She has taught some of her student's parents. Her maiden name was Roper. She has also been the head volleyball coach at Eastside High School for 35 years.. She is a graduate of J.L. Mann High School and Erskine College. While at Erskine she played volleyball and softball. After finishing Erskine, she attended Furman University where she earned her Master’s Degree.
In her time at Eastside High School, she has coached girls volleyball, boys volleyball, softball, basketball, girl’s track, and boy’s tennis. Her volleyball teams have won 21 Region Championships and 1 State Championship. Her teams have also been a State runner-up and 7 Upper-State runners-up in volleyball. She has been named Region Coach of the Year 21 times. She has coached the volleyball All-Star Match in 1995, 2005, and 2018. She has also had the honor of coaching the softball All-Star Game in 2000 and 2004. Susan has coached numerous All-Region, All-State and All-Star players in both volleyball and softball. She is a 34 year member of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association(SCACA) and South Carolina Coaches Association of Women's Sports(SCCAWS). She was the 2005 President of SCCAWS.
She is married to Rossie Meadows, a retired PE teacher and coach. Her daughter Cameron is a history teacher and volleyball coach at Travelers Rest High School. She also has a stepson, Hunter, who is married and works in Greenville. She became a grandmother in December 2021 with the birth of Hunter's daughter.
