About Mrs. McDermott

I am a graduate of Florida State University (Go Seminoles!) where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Business. I then earned my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Converse College. I love teaching, especially 2nd grade.

 I am married to John and have 3 children (Erik, Kyle, and Sean).   We have a golden dog, named Annie, who is a rescue.

John likes to bike ride and raise money for cancer research.   He rides with a group called C3 ride.  C3 stands for Chalenge to Conquer Cancer.  The group has ridden from San Diego, CA to Charleston, SC.  This year, they will ride again from Greenville up to Lewiston, ME.  All the money raised goes to the Prisma Cancer Center for research and patient care. 

Sean graduated from Clemson University and is now going to USC Law School.  Sean and Sarah just celebrated their 2nd Anniversary.  Sarah is a 5th grade teacher at Christ Church.  So there are two Mrs. McDermott teachers.

Erik went to the University of Texas for Geology (hook-em-horns) and later changed paths and finished up a Business Degree at Anderson University. Erik works at Bank of the Ozarks  and is married to Portia. She is a nurse/lactation specialist for Spartanburg Regional.  They have a son named Evrett,  who is now two years old and are expecting identical twin girls in August.  

Kyle went to Clemson University and graduated with a Marketing Degree. Yes, he bleeds ORANGE! Of course, I give Sean and Kyle grief during the FSU and Clemson football game.   Kyle is married to Alix and they live in Charlotte, NC.  Kyle is in recruiting and Alix is an OBGYN doctor.   Kyle and Alix have a two girls named Quinn and Sloane.

 I love to read and exercise! While I read, I find many quotes I like and one of my favorite quotes is: “Smart is not something you are, it is something you become.”
