COURSE DESCRIPTION
Physical Education, Fitness, and Health are designed to provide students with an understanding of the importance of wellness and to encourage teamwork and sportsmanship through physical activity. Students will participate in a variety of activities, dance, and sports; all of which can be considered lifetime activities. These activities and the skills developed provide various opportunities for students to succeed and enjoy physical activity as well as develop the five fitness-related components: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Students participate in the "Fitnessgram" testing as required by the State Department of Education. Our program provides for the following: skill development, regular physical activity, improved physical fitness, self-discipline, improved judgment, stress reduction, strengthened peer relations, improved self-confidence and self-esteem, and goal setting.
HUMAN SEXUALITY
All students will be offered a class in human sexuality. There will be no graded assignments for the Human Sexuality material (class participation only). Boys and girls will be separated for this section.
NOTEBOOKS
Students will keep all PE/Health information in a personal folder, in the gym.
DRESSING OUT
All students will be required to have a gym uniform for physical education class. The uniform must be different from what they wear to school. Shorts must be no shorter than mid-thigh. Students also need proper tennis shoes for class. No flip flops, boots, or dress shoes. All students will be provided a gym locker. Students are responsible for locking up any valuables they may have. Participation Points will be lost if a student is not dressed in accordance with the dress code.
