About Me

Hello!

I'm Lyn Horton, and this is my first year teaching at Southside High!

I've grown up in Greenville County Schools and am excited to be a part of them once again. I graduated from J. L. Mann in 2018, and went to Rock Hill to study at Winthrop University. Thanks to the wonderful English and education programs there, I graduated with a Bachelor's in English with minors in creative writing and educational studies, and later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching.

While I was there, I worked as a Writing Center tutor and the podcast host and editor for The Johnsonian, Winthrop's student newspaper. Both were great experiences that helped me build skills in writing, teaching, technology, organization, and collaboration. If any students are interested in starting a podcast, come chat with me!!

I'm super excited to join the SHS family and work with the awesome students here! I know it'll be a great year, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
