Magnet applications are completed ONLINE through GCS Parent Backpack.
🚫 Paper applications will NOT be available this school year.
Go to GCS Parent Backpack and log in to your account.
Parents of students who are not currently enrolled in Greenville County Schools can create a Parent Backpack account.
Once you are logged in:
Select “Programs” on the left side of the screen.
Select “Apply to a Program.”
Find “Magnet Academies.”
Select “Apply.”
You may apply to more than one Magnet Academy using the same application.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: You can submit the Magnet application ONLY ONCE.
Before clicking Submit, make sure you:
Select ALL Magnet Academies your student wants to apply to.
Complete ALL sections of the application.
Review your application carefully.
Magnet applications are available only during the designated application windows.

HOW ARE STUDENTS SELECTED?
Magnet admission is open to eligible students, but space is limited.
Applications are scored using 3 criteria:
Criteria: What Is Considered?
📅 Attendance
Student attendance
📚 Academics
Academic performance
✅ Discipline
Student discipline/behavior
Applying in Round 1 gives qualifying students a greater opportunity to receive a Magnet placement than applying in later rounds.
Siblings of current Magnet students who will return to the same school the following year receive priority in Round 1, if they qualify.
If there are more qualified applicants than available spaces, students are selected based on qualifying scores. A lottery may be used when there are more qualifying students than available spaces.
Students who qualify but are not selected are placed on a waiting list.

Prioridad para Hermanos
Los hermanos de estudiantes Magnet actuales que regresarán a la misma escuela el próximo año escolar tienen prioridad durante la Ronda 1, siempre que cumplan con los requisitos.
Si hay más estudiantes elegibles que espacios disponibles, la selección se realiza comenzando con los estudiantes que tienen las puntuaciones de calificación más altas. Se puede utilizar un sorteo cuando hay más estudiantes elegibles que espacios disponibles.
Los estudiantes que cumplen con los requisitos pero no son seleccionados serán colocados en una lista de espera.
