Welcome! My name is Lachelle Brown. I am so excited to be your child's fifth grade teacher! I was born in North Carolina, but have been raised in the Greenville area since I was 3. I graduated from Wade Hampton High School. I am one of 13 children! I was married with children before I realized that teaching was my calling. I earned an Associates and a Bachelors degree in K-8 from University of Phoenix and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working on a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. This is my eleventh year teaching, 7 years at Thomas E. Kerns and this is my fifth year at Slater- Marietta; two years in 3rd grade and this is my tenth year in 5th grade. I love this community and it is so close to my home!
I am married to my best friend Steven and we have two daughters. Summer is 24 and high school math teacher in Ohio with a major in Math Secondary Education. Sydnee is 18 and a manager of a restaurant. I am also in the process of adopting my nephew Leeland. He is 12 and in thesixth grade at Northwest Middle. We have 2 dogs (all rescues), 2 potbelly pigs, 1 bird, 1 Bearded Dragon (a rescue), 4 goats, 1 spotted Leopard Gecko, 2 snakes, and 6 chickens. We are working on building a small farm. When I am not teaching your child, I am pretty busy with my dissertation because I am working on becoming a Doctor of Educational Leadership, running a farm and house, and helping my parents (especially since my mother suffered a stroke four years ago and has developed Alzheimer's and my dad was just diagnosed with Parkinson's).
