Class Behavior and Routines

Management:

  • The students will come up with the rules for the classroom on the first day of school. They work together to express what they expect of their classmates and what they feel should be expected of them. They will even tell me what they expect of me as their teacher! We go over the school rules and classroom rules every day. The students know that there are consequences for breaking those rules.

The class rules that the students and I came up with in the first week of school are:

The consequences are:

    • 1. Warning (we all make mistakes)
    • 2. Lose a point in Class Dojo
    • 3. 10 minutes of silent lunch (no talking to your friends)
    • 4. Whole class silent lunch (we have not had a good day)
    • 5. Email/Phone call home.

Homework Routines:

  • A weekly homework packet will be sent home on Monday and will be due back to Mrs. Lollis on Friday.
  • If homework is not completed, the student will be asked to complete the assignment during silent lunch and will lose a point in Class Dojo.
  • Students are expected to read for 20 minutes every night.
  • Extra practice is always available per parent request.
  • Any classwork that is not complete (due to student's behavior or focus) will be sent home for homework and will be due the following day.

Tests/Quizzes:

  • There will be Math quizzes weekly as quick assessments throughout each unit.
  • Other tests and quizzes are posted in advance in the weekly newsletter.
  • There may be several "informal assessments" that are taken for a grade throughout each quarter that are not announced because they are not "quizzes." These will not be "pop quizzes" but assessments of the students' understanding of the material.

Weekly Papers:

  • Graded papers will be sent home each Friday in folders. Please sign your child's self-assessment and return that paper each Monday. I do not need graded papers back-- if they are returned in the blue folder, I will recycle them.
