Hello and welcome! My name is Lauren Martorell (pronounced Mart-or-ell). This is my eleventh year teaching and my second year at The Hamp—and I’m so happy to be here! I’m originally from Upstate New York 🌻 and moved to Greenville after graduating from college, where I earned both my degree and met my husband. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and Adolescent Education (Grades 7–12) and a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) 📚 while my husband is a local chef. We have a little family with our two lovable (and slightly wild) pups: Rupert and Sebastian.
Beyond my love for reading and writing, I have a wide range of interests. I have an affinity for food🥡 and music 🎶—if I’m not teaching or cheering on students at games or performances, you’ll probably find me checking out a new restaurant or catching a live show. I also enjoy staying active, traveling, and experiencing local culture. In my downtime, I love collecting vinyl records, gardening, binge-watching series, snowboarding 🏂, and spending quality time with family and friends 💗.
