Character Education

Pelham Road students participate in classroom guidance lessons every other week. During guidance/core curriculum lessons and small group counseling, we focus on acquisition of life skills, academic skills, and career exploration. We call this Learning to Live, Learning to Learn, and Learning to Work.

We are also focusing on Growth Mindset school wide this year. We encourage students to think about how we have "bubble gum" brains that can grow and learn, which is the opposite of a fixed mindset. Of course, we are going to come across things that are challenging. We encourage students to believe in the power of YET. When we don't know something, we encourage students to think that we do not know them YET. With hard work and grit, we will learn and achieve difficult things. The harder we work, the smarter we get.
