LEAGUE'S STORY

League Academy, formerly League Junior High and League Middle School, has a long tradition of excellence. We are proud to be the first middle school in Greenville County to be named a National School to Watch and A Nation's "Capturing Kids Hearts" model site school. Additionally, League has been the recipient of the Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards from the South Carolina General Assembly for high levels of student performance and substantial progress in closing the achievement gap, and numerous safety awards.

League opened as a junior high school in 1965 and transitioned into a middle school in the early seventies. In the fall of 1995, League became one of Greenville County's first magnet schools and was renamed League Academy of Communication Arts. The original building was torn down in 2003 and a new facility opened in 2006 on the original site.

Approximately 525 students attended League in the first year of the magnet program. Over the past twenty years, League's population has grown to approximately 800 students due to the continued popularity and success of League's mission. Mary Leslie Anderson currently serves as the principal of League Academy.
