ABOUT ME

Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year!

My name is Ms. Canada, and I am excited to be your Literacy Lab (READ 180) and Academic Seminar teacher for the 2026–2027 school year!

I have been a Special Education teacher for 16 years and have had the opportunity to work with students in several different communities. I spent two years teaching in the Maryland/Washington, D.C. area, six years in Houston, Texas, and the past eight years here at J.L. Mann High School.

I was born and raised in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, where I spent the first fourteen years of my life. I later moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where I completed my secondary education (Dorman High School- Go, Cavaliers). After high school, I moved to Maryland to attend college, where I began my journey and career in special education.

My career has taken me from Maryland to Texas and, eventually, back home to the Carolinas. Throughout my journey, one thing has remained constant: my passion for helping students learn, grow, and recognize their own potential.

I look forward to getting to know each of you, supporting your academic growth, and helping you develop the skills you need to be successful in high school and beyond.
