Claude Monet (1840 - 1926), the renowned French Impressionist painter, would frequently choose a subject, then paint it in a variety of different scenerios -- different times of day, different types of weather, different seasons, close up images versus far off, etc. Monet was also very proud of his gardens and water lily pond at his home in Giverny, France. It is said he did between 250 and 300 paintings of the water lily series. This particular painting is one of my favorites, as it shows the bridge that spans over his water lily pond. You can visit Monet's home and gardens and see this scene for yourself!
