There are a few options in order to obtain instruments for the school year. You can rent through the school, which is a $50 rental that covers the cost sending them to the cleaners throughout the summer. This school year, with the influx of band students and not enough instrument for students to individually have their own rental instrument, some students may have to share their instrument with another student. Each student will receive their own mouthpiece that attaches to the instrument so that they can play in class.
The other option of obtaining an instrument the way I would recommend going is purchasing a beginner level instrument through a verified vendor in Greenville County. There are two vendors that sell quality instruments, Pecknel Music and Musical Innovations. I will provide the informaiton for each of these stores below. Both stores offer unique and helpful ways to obtain instruments through a process called "rent-to-own" instead of making a lump sum payment, they will divide the cost into zero interest monthly payments that is most convenient for you. Once you finish your payments, the instrument is yours so keep!
Purchasing your own instrument is the most cost effective and beneficial way to obtain an instrument. Every year in band, there will be a rental fee and typically that rental fee will increase once the student enters high school. At the end of your child's playing career you could easily spend $500 in renting instruments that you do not get to keep. Whereas, you can purchase a beginner level instrument for this amount, set up monthly payments if needed, and at the end you get to keep the instrument as your own. I highly recommend purchasing an instrument.
