About Me

Hey everyone! My name is Katherine West (Ms. West) and I am so excited to be teaching 8th grade English Studies and ENG 1 H at GMA this year! I wanted to give everyone a little about myself since I am a newer face! Three years ago, I graduated from Anderson University with my B.A. in Secondary English Education and this is my fourth year teaching (and, yes, I decided to go straight from school to being in school 24/7 because I LOVE IT!). I graduated college during the first year of COVID-19 which was tough because it was hard for me to keep up with online learning (I mean who would want to go to Google Meets when you could binge crime series’ on Netflix!). Yet, I attribute my hard work ethic, patience, and flexibility to outlasting the fears, anxieties, and struggles of COVID-19. Last year was my third year at GMA, and I instantly fell in love with the connectivity, structure, and school culture so much so that I decided to come back a fourth year! I am originally from the Greenville area, so I am excited to be teaching in my hometown. Outside of school, I enjoy reading all things young adult, watching movies, playing in a Recreational Co-Ed Soccer League (I mean...I am a Summer Rec Co-Ed Soccer Champion which means I am on my way to becoming a professional soccer player!;)) and cheering for my favorite football team the Clemson Tigers! I am so excited for a LIT (which stands for literature of course) year with the GMA family! GO RAMS!
