Personal Finance 

Each student who successfully completes the course will earn .5units and complete a SC graduation requirement.

As the course is only 9weeks, students are encouraged to follow the syllabus as well as the posts that will be placed in Google Classroom and GCSD BACKPACK. 

**Disclosure** if I am absent, students are expected to continue with posted assignments. However, NO NEW material/concepts will be covered.

Units - listed in the order that they will be taught

UNIT 1:MANAGING PERSONAL FINANCES 

The student will analyze how human behaviors impact financial decisions 

UNIT 2: UNDERSTANDING INSURANCE AND RISK 

The students will demonstrate knowledge of insurance and the basics of risk management. 

UNIT 3: UTILIZING BANKING SERVICES ( Guest Speaker)

The students will demonstrate knowledge of banking services and procedures.

UNIT 4:  MANAGING CREDIT Students will demonstrate an understanding of the various types of debt and methods of managing personal credit. 

UNIT 5:FINANCING EDUCATION AND TRAINING ( Guest Speaker)

The students will demonstrate knowledge of how to financially prepare for post-secondary education and training. 

UNIT 6: UNDERSTANDING TAXES 

The students will examine the impact of taxes on personal finances. 

UNIT 7: BUILDING FINANCIAL SECURITY: Investing

The students will develop skills to build financial security. 

UNITS 8 & 9 : PERSONAL FINANCE AND YOU

The students will complete a personal budget( a digital flipbook) based on a chosen and researched career in order to implement all 7 units successfully.

**Final Exam** will be administered on the last day of the course.
