Education Philosophy: My philosophy of education is that all students can learn and succeed when motivated and given high expectations. Therefore I expect students to come to school ready to learn and ready to challenge themselves. It is my goal to help all of Eastside's students reach their greatest potential in regards to their education.
Teacher Background: This is my twenty fifth year in Greenville County Schools and thirteenth year in this role as I work with our great teachers, administrators, parents, support staff and district personnel. Together, we will be providing support for classroom instruction and curriculum so our students will have the best chance to reach their highest potential.
Before my time in Greenville, I taught middle school science in Athens, Georgia and North Augusta, South Carolina for a total of eight years. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a Master’s Degree in Science Education after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. I continue to grow professionally each year attending various national and state education conferences, teaching graduate level classes for teachers, and taking classes.
My time outside of school this summer was busy spending quality time with my family and preparing for a new school year at Eastside. My husband (Barry) and I enjoy spending time with our two dogs (a Brittany Spaniel and a Springer Spaniel) and hiking. I have two adult children, a daughter Rebecca and a step-daughter Caroline. Rebecca is a 3rd grade teacher and lives in Greer, SC with her toddler and two pets. Caroline works for ScanSource and lives in Atlanta with her three pets.
