In my guidance lessons, I focus mainly on teaching the students about the concept of having a growth mindset. A growth mindset is the belief that a person's abilities can be developed and improved through effort, learning, and persistence. Each month our school focus on a different Growth Mindset mantra to motivate the students/teachers to Never Stop Trying!
August - Teaching is a practice, not a perfection
September - Everyone can learn!
October - My brain is like a muscle that grows (Growth vs Fixed)
November - I am a valued member of this learning community
December - We love a challenge
January - Feedback is a gift--accept it
February - A goal without a plan is just a wish
March - Mistakes are opportunities for learning
April - There's a difference between not knowing and not knowing YET!
May - I got this!
Each quarter students are chosen by their teachers to be "Growth Mindset Kids "and are recognized at our PTA programs.
