Hello Wade Hampton Family!
My name is Ja’Marcus Smalls, and I’m honored to join the Wade Hampton High School community as your new Behavior Intervention Coach.
I’m originally from Barnwell, South Carolina, where I graduated from Barnwell High School—home of the mighty War Horses! In 2019, I made the move to Greenville to pursue higher education, starting at Greenville Technical College, then transferring to Grand Canyon University, and I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree at Liberty University.
Family means everything to me. I’m the youngest of two on my mother’s side, her name is Susan and I have one older brother, Jacquais, and a proud uncle to two incredible nephews, Noah and Kalev. I’m also blessed with five bonus siblings—Caleb, Calvin, Qua, Isaac, and Anius—four of whom currently attend Greer High School. I have cant forget about the worlds best Grandma whose name is JoAnne!
Most recently, I served as the ISS Coordinator at Greer Middle School, and now I’m stepping into this exciting new role here at Wade Hampton. I look forward to supporting, guiding, and growing alongside the amazing students and staff on this campus.
Outside of school, I’m a worship leader at Redemption Church in Greenville, and I love all things music, cooking, and living life with joy and purpose. My passion lies in uplifting others, especially students—helping them discover their strengths, reach their goals, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
While most people call me Mr. Smalls, you’re welcome to call me Coach Smalls or even Mr. Mark. After three impactful years as a Yellow Jacket, I’m proud to now call myself a General—and I’m ready to make a difference, build strong relationships, and be part of Wade Hampton’s continued legacy of excellence.

Let’s make this year unforgettable.
