About Me

My name is Joanna Sanson. This is my twelfth year teaching at Wade Hampton. I was born and raised in Simpsonville, SC where I graduated from Hillcrest High School. I went on to attend Winthrop University and graduated in 2012 with my B.A. in English – Secondary Education and again in 2014 with my M.A. in English. I obtained my Gifted Endorsement in 2017 and my AP certification in AP Language and Composition in 2020, and I have been an AP Reader since Summer 2023. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher since 2024. 

I enjoy living my life with my husband and our cat Nimbus, reading, crafting (cross-stitching, knitting), and puzzling. I also enjoy spending time with my family, and I have five nieces and nephews. I love being a teacher at Wade Hampton High School! Go Generals!
