Students who want to get a glimpse of Speech and Debate are encouraged to register for the Competitive Public Speaking elective, offered in the first semester of each academic year. In this course, students will deliver speeches, act out scripts, participate in a mock Congress, and debate policy resolutions. If you would like to know more about this course, check out the linked syllabus.
The purpose of the Eastside High School Speech and Debate Team is to develop confident, articulate, thoughtful speakers with the skills to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage responsibly in academic and civil discourse.
The Speech and Debate Team is now in its 13th year at Eastside, and we are excited about developing as a dynamic program at the state and regional level. We have a record of success that we look forward to building on as we gain more students, accept new challenges, hone our talents, and strive for excellence.
We welcome all students who want to improve their communication, writing, and research skills.
If you are interested, please speak with me or Mr. Anastasio in Rm. C112.
