It takes immense courage to ask for help. Seeking support is a brave act of self-awareness, not a sign of weakness. I believe that vulnerability is a powerful strength, and I'm here to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for your student to explore, heal, and grow at their own desired pace. My name is Joanna Jackson and I am the Mental Health Therapist at Fisher Middle School. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFT-A) and I have been at Fisher for the past 2 years providing mental health support to our Fisher Firebirds through experiences such as: major life adjustments, anxiety, grief, emotional expression, suicidality, trauma, and a variety of other concerns.
My approach in therapy is to provide a collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based space that encourages students to develop a sense of autonomy and self-advocacy along with striving towards their personal goals and objectives in treatment. I am trained in the following treatment modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused therapy, solution focused skills, and emotion management interventions/techniques. My goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for your student and family to partner with me to accomplish your planned goals and objectives in a way that feels successful to everyone involved. My number one value is collaboration and communication to accomplish success within our treatment areas and I hope that I can be helpful for your and your student if support is needed.
