 ORIGINAL MEDICAL NOTES MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE TO BE CODED "EXCUSED-MEDICAL."

Attendance Information:  

• ATTENDANCE: Attendance is taken each class period throughout the day. Students are considered absent from a period if they miss more than half of that period. Students must remain in school for three hours to be considered present for the day. Therefore, they must arrive by 11:45 a.m. and leave no earlier than 12:45 p.m. to be considered present for their daily attendance record. The State Department of Education no longer recognizes perfect attendance.

• TRUANCY: A student is considered truant when he/she accumulates three consecutive or five total unexcused absences over the course of the year.

• PARENT NOTES: Only the first five parent notes per semester will be coded "Parent Note."  All subsequent parent notes will be coded "Unexcused."

• ABSENCE NOTES: Students have five (5) school days after returning to school from an absence to turn in absence notes (this includes medical notes, parent notes, college visit notes, bereavement documentation, etc.)  Notes turned in after five days from the student's return to school will not be coded and are considered unlawful absences.  For more information, please see Greenville County Schools Board Rule JBD.

• EARLY DISMISSALS:  Students who plan to leave school during school hours should bring a note written from the parent/guardian with the student's first and last name, the time they are leaving, and signed by the parent. The note needs to be dropped off in the Attendance Office before 8:45 a.m.  The Attendance Office cannot accept voicemail, email, or a fax as an early dismissal request; only a written note that can be verified or a parent coming into the office can be accepted.  Click here to view additional information regarding early dismissals.

• TARDY REGULATIONS: If a student comes into the classroom and leaves for any reason prior to the bell, including going to the bathroom or to obtain class materials, he/she will be considered tardy if the student returns to the classroom after the tardy bell.

• Juniors and seniors are permitted three college visit days per year.  College visits will only be coded as such in attendance upon receipt of confirmation of the visit.

Información de Asistencia: 

• ASISTENCIA: Se toma la asistencia en cada clase del dia. Un estudiante se considera ausente de una clase si falta más de la mitad de la clase. .Un estudiante tiene que quedarse en la escuela por tres horas para estar presente para el día .Por lo tanto, deben llegar antes de las 11:45 a.m y no salir antes de las 12:45 de la tarde para ser considerado(a) presente para el día. El Departamento de Educación del Estado ya no reconoce la asistencia perfecta. 

• REGULACIONES DE TARDANZA: Si  un estudiante viene a la clase y sale por cualquier razón antes del timbre, incluso ir al baño o obtener materiales para la clase, se considera una llegada tarde si llega a la clase después del segundo timbre.

• EL AUSENTISMO: El ausentismo llega a ser problema cuando el estudiante acumule tres ausencias consecutivas o cinco ausencias no justificadas en total. 

• NOTAS DEL PADRE Sólo se aceptan cinco notas del padre por semestre. 

• SALIDAS TEMPRANAS:  Los estudiantes que planean salir de la escuela durante el horario escolar deben traer una nota escrita por el padre/tutor con el nombre y apellido del estudiante, la hora a la que se van y firmada por el padre. La nota debe entregarse en la Oficina de Asistencia antes de las 8:45 a. m.

• No se acepta mensaje de voz como una pedida para salir temprano. La única manera aceptable es una nota escrita que se puede ser verificada o por una visita del padre a la Oficina de Asistencia.  Hacer clic aqui para ver información adicional sobre la salida temprana.

• REGULACIONES DE TARDANZA: Si un estudiante entra al salón de clases y sale por cualquier motivo antes de que suene el timbre, incluyendo ir al baño o para obtener materiales de clase, se considerará que llega tarde si el estudiante regresa al salón de clases después de que suene el timbre. Los procedimientos de tardanza y las consecuencias se enumeran a continuación.

• A los estudiantes de tercer y cuarto año se les permiten tres días de visita a la universidad por año. Las visitas a universidades sólo se codificarán como tales en asistencia una vez recibida la confirmación de la visita.
